Robert Pastorelli Rising Star Award

The  Garden State Film Festival which will take place in Atlantic City April 3-6, 2014  is proud to announce the winner for their annual Robert Pastorelli Rising Star Award. The award is named after the late award winning actor and co-founder of the GSFF, Robert Pastorelli who was instrumental in bringing this prestigious event to the State of New Jersey.


AND THE 2014 WINNER IS……Paul Castro Jr.


Paul Castro Jr. is a native of the Jersey Shore, growing up in the small town of Hazlet. His performance as “Eric” in The Skeleton Twins with Bill Hader and Ty Burrell was recently featured in the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. Other recent works from Paul include Black Dog, Red Dog, directed and produced by James Franco, as well as the lead in the Indie Feature Buffalo Boys directed by Raymond Guarnieri, which won “Best Coming of Age Film” at the 2013 Manhattan Film Festival and “Best Crime Drama” at the 2013 Indie Gathering in Cleveland, OH. Paul is also currently producing and starring in his second film with Raymond titled Harvard On Hudson. Paul is a recent graduate from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with his BFA in Acting exclusively from the Meisner Studio. He is an avid video gamer, NYC Road Runner, chicken parmigiana connoisseur, and an enthusiast of T.V. shows such as: Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. for more about Paul go to
