Dennis Hedlund is a resident of Red Bank, NJ. He started his career as a rock and roll disc jockey for Storer Broadcasting, who launched the Ampex Corporation’s first entry into the consumer market with blank 8 track and audio cassettes. Hedlund created the home video division of Allied Artist Pictures in 1977, the second home video label to be established in North America.
In 1980 he co-founded, with Pearl Lee, Kultur International Films, the first independent video label dedicated to the performing arts. In the early 80’s Hedlund went to Russia and acquired exclusive video rights on all Russian operas, ballets, and classical music programs. Included in this package was the 6 hour masterpiece epic “War and Peace”. Kultur now has a library of 3,000 programs on DVD and together with its White Star and SRO Labels is considered one of the largest independent film distribution companies in the world.
