GSFF 2015 VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTIONS

 

Thank you to ALL of you for being an important part of the 13th Annual Garden State Film Festival!  Without volunteers, our festival cannot succeed!  This email contains important information about where and how to pick up your badges, parking, local transportation and more.  If you have questions that are not answered here, please contact us at volunteer@gsff.org.

VOLUNTEER MEETING

Academy Room

 

 

 

 

 

We will be having a brief volunteer meeting on Friday, March 20 at 5:30 in the Academy Room (Ocean Tower-Meeting Level) at Resorts Hotel & Casino (1133 Boardwalk, AC). For those who cannot make this meeting, read below for checking in and   how to pick up your volunteer badges.

Cocktail Party:  We ask ALL VOLUNTEERS to work our Friday Night Cocktail Party on Friday March 20 (which runs from 7-8:20 pm) and/or first screening (8:30pm-10:30pm) if at all possible. You MUST pick up your volunteer badge at the Academy Room (Ocean Tower – Meeting Level) at Resorts Hotel & Casino (1133 Boardwalk, AC) PRIOR to the Cocktail Party.

 

VOLUNTEER CHECK IN AND BADGE PICK UP

Volunteer Central (Academy Room, Resorts Casino, Ocean Tower – Meeting Level) will be staffed starting around 10 AM on Friday, throughout the weekend. ALL volunteers check in here if arriving on Friday, or working at Resorts on Saturday or Sunday.

If you are not able to join us on Friday at all….look for the venue on the list below where you will be working your FIRST shift for the weekend.  Please plan accordingly and arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your shift start time to pick up your badge and be briefed on your shift duties.

Please check in with the Venue Czar at Dante Hall and The Claridge.  Each venue has alternating Czars, so just look for anyone with a Staff or Volunteer badge and ask for the Czar when you get there.  (Names and photos of the Czars are also provided on the GSFF Volunteer page.)

ATTIRE

Please dress nicely and comfortable, but presentable (i.e., no sweats or sloppy attire, please).  Sneakers are fine, jeans are fine.  Ladies – Please don’t dress in heels unless you know that they are comfortable heels for a period of time.  Even if you might be able to sit for part of your shift, there will time spent on your feet and foot travel to get to/from your volunteer locations.

PARKING

Resorts Hotel & Casino (1133 Boardwalk)

Parking is readily available at Resorts, as well as other casinos. They have self-parking and valet. Please check with your hotel to see what rate they give you.

Hint: If you sign up for their players card (no obligation to gamble but the more you play the more discounts you get around the hotel) parking is extremely reasonable.

Dante Hall (14 N. Mississippi Avenue, between Atlantic and Arctic Avenues)

Parking is available in the Wave Parking Garage (also houses the Noyes Arts Garage) on Fairmount Ave and Mississippi is only a block away. CLICK HERE  

The Claridge Hotel (Boardwalk and Park Place)

Valet and self-parking on site

Parking Discounts for GSFF patrons are also available from our friends at B&B Parking (parkplaceparking.net) at:

  • 6 S. Chelsea Ave.
  • 102 S. South Carolina Ave. (Resorts)
  • 152 S. New York Ave. (Resorts)

Friday $5

Saturday $10

TRANSPORTATION BETWEEN VENUES

 

The Jitney Guy – This Year GSFF and The Jitney Guy will be running the GSFF EXPRESS!! Look for our own Jitney which will loop to all venues throughout the festival!! This will be FREE to all GSFF ticket holders. (Tipping is encouraged)

 

Atlantic City Boardwalk Tram – Hop on & hop off anywhere on boardwalk. No restrictions. $2 one-way per person, $5 all day daily pass, unlimited rides up and down boardwalk. Weekends Tram will run from 10 am – 3 or 4 am

 

 

LASTLY, we still have  some open shifts in need of volunteers!  Especially the later screenings on Saturday night and on Sunday afternoon.  View the open shift schedule on Shiftboard at www.shiftboard.com/gsff and click on Calendar.

 

 

 

****IMPORTANT:  If you are unable to make your shift, please notify Sharon at least 24 hours prior to your shift at 949-874-7423.  Text or phone call is fine, as long as you receive confirmation.
